logistic business area development
Business sites will be integrated in the landscape and byproducts of one company are the resources for another company.
Venlo is a leader in designing and implementing innovative ideas for sustainable development. Trade Port North is all about: sustainability leads to a successful business. Companies are naturally integrated into the green countryside where the infrastructure is already largely achieved. Together with the entrepreneurs we are looking for sustainable partnerships between various companies. The aim is to realize cost savings and added value. The C2C is an important basic principle. The starting point is to achieve a CO2 neutral area where waste material from one company forms the raw material for the other. Consistent application of this thinking leads to a different perspective on water use, waste and energy. In short: garbage is food.

exhibition/office building
Villa Flora is innovative and sustainable, self-reliant and an important icon in the region.
As co-host of the Floriade a Horticultural World Expo, which is being held in the Venlo-region in 2012, we want to expose the short- and long term economical possibilities the region has to offer. It is our belief that this economy will be led by demands regarding sustainability.
Villa Flora is innovative and sustainable. The region of Venlo is developing this office- and exposition building as an important icon.
Villa Flora is self-reliant, the low-temperature heating- and cooling, the way the building is structured and the transportation of the reusable concrete elements by ship are impressive. The innovation regarding energy-aspects proves the transition of using 160-million year old fossil fuels to storing and using solar-energy, derived from PV-cells.

leisure and pleasure area development
Revitalising a former military base into a leasure and pleasure area reaching maximal synergy and added value by combining functions

residential redevelopment
A social-housing C2C home Here, the city, the people, birds and insects go hand in hand until the next cycle.
Nibble, nibble, gnaw. Who’s nibbling at my little house? That would be a great concept when it comes to Cradle to Cradle organic recycling. With the assignment for a social C2C home in the Venlo medieval neighbourhood Q4, formerly associated with drug issues, we thought of the Hansel and Gretel house. The whole house provides nutricion for following ecosystems. The Dutch taaitaai is similar to gingerbread and the house in itself is made of nutrients. The Dutch word taai means ‘tough’ and it isn’t easy to fit all the details of this home into the organic cycle. Tough, too, because the budget is related to normal practice in social housing building. But we do come a long way. Prefab walls and floors of solid wood without glue or steel with integrated window frames, insulation material of woodfibre and a roof and façade of Accoya Wood . A new world within the old, with the medieval building structure as a guide to its shape. Here, the city, the people, birds and insects go hand in hand until the next cycle.

investing in opportunities
Venlo is participating in the Interreg IVB project C2C BIZZ. The aim is to enhance the implementation of C2C methods on business sites. C2C business sites have a positive impact on environment, society and economy and are future proof. Different aspects of transition towards C2C will be studied, developed and tested on pilot sites. Together the pilots comprise one complete C2C business site. All new knowledge and experience will be gathered at one place, the C2C Expolab in Venlo. This will be the central knowledge centre of the project, with virtual local centers in each region. Tools, instruments and guidelines will be developed to facilitate the application of C2C. The final result of the project will be a roadmap, that leads the way to a 100% C2C business site.
